Influence Rank Improvement in ChatGPT
Business objective
A global leader in luxur y lifestyle products spanning apparel, accessories, home, fragrances, and hospitality chose Bluefish to strengthen how AI channels represent the brand and to make the brand website the authoritative source AI systems cite when consumers ask about its products.
For a brand whose identity is inseparable from how its story is told, ensuring AI hears that story directly from the brand was a key strategic priority.

The problem
Bluefish Sources and Citation Frequency data surfaced an anomaly: the brand website had an unusually low number of cited pages in ChatGPT. The brand wasn’t losing the AI conversation, it was locked out of it entirely. Site security features were blocking LLM crawlers from accessing the brand site, so ChatGPT couldn’t read, index, or cite the brand’s own content. Ever y answer about the brand was being assembled from third party sources instead of its own pages.

The solution
The fix wasn’t new content; it was access. Using Sources and Citation Frequency intelligence from the Bluefish Agentic Marketing Platform (AMP), the team traced the low page-citation count to its root cause: security features on the brand site were turning away the crawlers ChatGPT relies on.
Bluefish recommended unblocking LLM crawlers by removing the security features that prevented ChatGPT from crawling the domain. The brand’s URLs were grouped in a Bluefish Collection, enabling the brand to measure by tracking citation frequency and the number of cited pages against the pre-launch baseline.

The results
Once crawlers were unblocked, ChatGPT star ted reading and citing the brand site directly. The number of cited brand pages rose, citation frequency jumped, and the site’s influence rank climbed from #14 to #8 in 30 days, making the brand’s own voice one of the most influential sources in its category.

We thought we were losing the ChatGPT conversation. We were actually locked out of it — our own site was invisible to the crawlers. Bluefish identified the cause and told us exactly what to fix. Once we opened access, our citation frequency tripled in 30 days, and our content is defining the narrative.
